Governor's School for the Arts and Academics: Oct 21
There will be an interest meeting for students who would like to apply to the Governor's School for the Arts and Academics on Tuesday, October 21 at 2:10 p.m. in Room 1005.  All students are invited to attend.
Parking Meeting - Oct. 21st
There will be a Parking Meeting on Tuesday, October 21, at 3pm, for those students wishing to drive to school, who do not currently have a parking permit.  Students and parent/guardians should meet Mrs. Gately in the main office.
PWCS Fall College Fair: Oct 22
PWCS, in conjunction with the Virginia Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers (VACRAO), will host one more college fair for high school students and families during the 2014-15 school year on Wednesday, October 22nd at Woodbridge High School, 6:00-8:00pm.  Seniors, juniors, and their parents are welcomed to attend!
Youth Salute: Application Deadline Oct 24
The National Council on Youth Leadership commends young men and women who have demonstrated their desire to promote a culture of excellence through leadership roles in their community. Current juniors (Class of 2016) with a 3.0+ GPA and leadership experience can apply now! Interested students should access the application on the junior class Fusion page and submit their completed nomination form and resume (using REQUIRED template) to Mrs. Bridges in the Counseling Center no later than 2:30pm on Friday, October 24, 2104.
HOBY Information Mtg: Oct 27
The Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) program will be hosting the Virginia Leadership Seminar at James Madison University May 29-31, 2015. The mission of HOBY and the purpose of the seminar is to recognize and develop leadership talents in sophomores, helping them become effective leaders in their school and community.  Battlefield High School will send one sophomore to this seminar. For more information on the HOBY Virginia Leadership Seminar and the application process, interested sophomores should attend the information session on 10/27/14 in the Counseling Center. See Mrs. Pomfret in the Counseling Center for more information and to obtain a pass to attend the information session.

The October edition of "Inside 15000," the student news magazine, is now available online.
NEW! Inside Battlefield News Program Launches its First Episode
BHS students Ryan Keane, Alyssa Estrellado, Tommy DeAngelus, and Laura Keane now anchor a news show about what is happening at Battlefield High School.  The show airs on closed-circuit television at BHS, but you can download an archived version here of the first episode.  The file is large and may require a few minutes to download.  Enjoy!

Attention! Save $15 on your yearbook by purchasing by October 1st. Prices are only $70 and will go up starting October 1. Books can be ordered online at http://www.yearbookordercenter.com or drop off the form in the front office.
Local merchants helping seniors to raise money
Greetings from the Class of 2015! Seniors are working with local merchants to raise money to reduce the cost of the spring trip--and providing us all with an opportunity to enjoy a tasty treat at the same time! Here are your opportunities in October and early November:
KuleYo's: Friday, November 7th--20% of proceeds from 2PM to midnight goes to the Class of 2015--present flyer or mention the Senior Class at time of purchase.
Financial Aid Night: Nov 20
Attention seniors and senior parents! How will you pay for college? Do you understand the financial aid process? Get your questions answered at BHS Financial Aid Night on Thursday, November 20th at 7:00pm in the auditorium. The presenter will be Felice Rollins of College Momentum.  Don't miss this event!
Annual Senior Fair: Dec 2
Tuesday, December 2nd Battlefield will host its Annual Senior Grad Fair in the Commons from 5-8 PM. Drop by with your senior to visit with our Herff Jones rep and purchase cap and gown, graduation announcements, and other keepsakes. Note: representatives from Yearbook and the After Grad Party will also be on hand.
Free Educational Opportunities with NASA
The Virginia Space Grant Consortium is offering free NASA related programs for VA high school sophomore and junior students interested in STEM.  Click here for more information.

PWCS Sports Concussion Education Training
9th grade students, and students NEW to PWCS must attend Face-to-Face concussion training.  Sessions are available at all PWCS High Schools throughout the 2014-15 school year.  View the current schedule or visit the PWCS Health and Physical Education website for updated information and make plans to attend one of these sessions. 

Parents/guardians and students who have already attended a face-to-face training may take this year's mandatory concussion training online. Start the online training.

All athletes must have a current physical on file for each school year, dated after May 1st of the current year through June 30 of the succeeding year.
