Dear Parents, Faculty, Staff and Friends of Battlefield Bands,

We are excited about our upcoming “Dough Raising Night” on Thursday, September 18th and we’re counting on your support! Order Pizza, Sandwiches, Pasta, Sides and Soda and 20% of your order goes to Battlefield Bands! Don’t forget to turn the Proof-of-Purchase form in with your order. BHS Clubs and Activities Fair
Battlefield High School will host a Clubs and Activities Fair, Friday, September 19, 2014 at 6:00 pm. The Clubs and Activities Fair will be held prior to our Varsity Football game v/s Gar-Field, game time 7:30p.m. Please visit the display tables located at the stadium.
High School Video Contest
The Virginia School Boards Association is asking high school students to express their thoughts and ideas around the theme "Virginia, we are one!" through their 3rd annual video contest.  Students are invited to submit a 30 second video that conveys the contest theme.  The top 3 videos, along with those identified by the judges as honorable mentions, will be posted on VSBA's YouTube site.  Click here for more information.

Service Academy Day 2014
Representative Rob Wittman invites high school and middle school students and parents to Service Academy Day 2014. Attendees will be provided a comprehensive overview of the United States service academies and their admission process. Students will also be able to meet with officials from the service academies.
Senior Parent Info Night: Sept 22
The Battlefield High School Counseling Department will host a Senior Parent Information Night on Monday, September 22nd at 7:00pm in the auditorium. Topics will include graduation requirements, post-graduate planning, and the college application process. We strongly encourage all senior parents/guardians to attend this important meeting. We look forward to seeing you there!
Join the Debate Team- Great College Preparation!
Did you know that students who participate in debate are more likely to gain acceptance at elite colleges than similarly qualified students who have never debated?
The Battlefield HS Debate team will be holding an interest meeting on Tuesday Sept. 9 at 2:10 in the library.  Team captains will give a presentation explaining the difference between Policy debate and Lincoln-Douglas debate. Follow-up lessons on how to debate will begin the following week, so this meeting will allow you to determine which subsequent sessions to attend.  See the tentative debate schedule for more details.

PWCS Sports Concussion Education Training
9th grade students, and students NEW to PWCS must attend Face-to-Face concussion training.  Sessions are available at all PWCS High Schools throughout the 2014-15 school year.  View the current schedule or visit the PWCS Health and Physical Education website for updated information and make plans to attend one of these sessions. 

Parents/guardians and students who have already attended a face-to-face training may take this year's mandatory concussion training online. Start the online training.

All athletes must have a current physical on file for each school year, dated after May 1st of the current year through June 30 of the succeeding year.

Challenge Index Ranks Battlefield in Top 5%

Battlefield High School ranks 61 in Virginia and 901 in the nation, according to The Washington Post's list of America’s Most Challenging High Schools (Challenge Index), putting it in the top 5%. 2014-2015 Fall College Fairs - Dates to Save
PWCS, in conjunction with the Virginia Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers (VACRAO), will host two college fairs for high school students and families during the 2014-15 school year: Monday, September 29th at Patriot High School, 7:00-8:30pm and Wednesday, October 22nd at Woodbridge High School, 6:00-8:00pm.  Seniors, juniors, and their parents are welcomed to attend!
Catholic College Fair - Oct 8
The Knights of Columbus of Northern Virginia are hosting a Catholic College Fair on Wednesday, October 8th at 7:00pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. More than 30 Catholic colleges and universities from around the country will have representatives at the even to provide information about their schools.
