Information Regarding Saturday, June 6 SAT Administration
Read information from College Board regarding the Saturday, June 6 SAT administration.  Scores from the June 6 administration are considered to be valid scores; they will appear in the student's College Board account and will be accepted by colleges. Students can decide which of their SAT scores are reported to colleges through "Score Choice".
School Counseling Summer Hours
The School Counseling office will be open 8:00am-4:00pm beginning Monday, June 22nd.  The office will be closed July 13th-17th.  To schedule an appointment to enroll or withdraw your student, please contact the registrar, Cindy Zumbrum, at (571) 261-4605. Click here to view the list of items that are required at new student enrollment appointments.

Dear Battlefield Parents and Guardians,

This is the last issue of the newsletter for the 2014-15 school year. Our primary focus in this issue is to recognize student achievements and parent and business contributions. There are several announcements that pertain to the next school year as well.

2015-2016 Fall tryout information
All student-athletes are required to have a VHSL physical prior to the first day of practice. All incoming freshmen and new transfer students into PWCS must attend a face to face concussion training at any high school in PWCS.  Battlefield will host a concussion training July 27th Concussion Training Info  Fall Tryout Schedule  VHSL Physical Form
Back to Back State Championships for Girls' Soccer Team
Congratulations to the girls' soccer team for winning the VHSL 6A State Championship on Saturday, 6/13 @ Robinson HS. The girls went to the 4th overtime (first goal wins) with Frank W. Cox HS ( Va Beach) and scored a goal with 1.7 sec left to win 2-1. On Friday, 6/12, the team beat Landstown HS (Va Beach) in a semi final game, 2-1. 

Double State Champions in the Pole Vault
Congratulations to Battlefield HS track and field athletes, Emily Harrison (11') and Andrew Arlint (15'4"), for being the 6A state champions in the pole vault.

New Student Orientation - August 20th (Please register by Aug. 3)
New student orientation will be held on Thursday, August 20th, from 8:15AM -noon.  The orientation is designed specifically for our new students and it provides an opportunity for the participants to meet other Bobcats and learn more about Battlefield High School.  Also, health and PE uniforms will be on sale and the school store will be open to sell spirit wear. Purchase NEXT year's (2016) yearbook for an incredible introductory price of $50. Expect prices to go up at the start of the school year. 
Battlefield Summer Academic Camps - Registration is Open
Don't have time to fit everything into your busy schedule during the school year? Use the Battlefield Academic Camps to enrich your knowledge this summer:  Cyber Defense*, Cyber Security (by Northrup Grumman) and Math SAT Prep. There are also many camps available for elementary and middle school students. Click here for registration and information.
Tri-Ed Tutoring
Tri-Ed Tutoring is hosting an 8 week SAT prep course beginning August 10. This class is geared towards prepping juniors and seniors who plan to take the October or November administrations of the SAT. For more information and to register, visit: .
Summer Reading and Assignments
There are three distinct summer programs relevant to Battlefield students.  While some pertain only to students taking AP and Pre-AP courses in the Fall, others are open to all PWCS students.  See the Summer Reading 2015 page for details.
Free Health Screening & Fair on July 18
A Health Screening & Health Fair will be held on Saturday,July 18 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Stonewall Jackson High School.  The Health Screening & Health Fair will include free school-entry physicals for uninsured children (K-5), vision and hearing screenings, concussion training for middle and high school parents and their student athlete (provided by Novant Health), and enrollment assistance for Medicaid & FAMIS programs.  There will also be health and wellness information, fitness demonstrations, and free giveaways. Tentative plans may also include blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose testing.  The fair is a collaborative effort between Inova Partnership for Healthier Kids, Novant Health, the Office of Student Services, and the Office of Student Learning.  Questions?  Contact Inova Partnership for Healthier Kids at 703.967.3772.  See the event flyer in English and Spanish.
Obtaining AP Scores: July
This July, AP scores will only be available online. Students will not receive scores in the mail. To obtain AP scores, students must sign up for a free College Board account at We encourage students to take this step now, then remember to keep the username and password in a safe place! If you've taken an AP exam in the past, ever registered for the SAT, or participated in other College Board programs, you may already have a College Board account. Try signing in at to find out.
Redesigned PSAT/NMSQT ~ Coming October 2015

Did you know that a redesigned SAT will be launched in March 2016?  Visit the CollegeBoard website and read about the eight key changes to the test, view sample questions, and learn about test specifications.
2015-2016 Fall College Fairs: Save the Dates!
Osbourn High School will host the Western Prince William County Regional College Fair on Monday, September 28th, 6:00-8:00pm. Osbourn High School is located at 9005 Tudor Lane, Manassas, 20110.  Hylton High School will host the Eastern Prince William County Regional College Fair on Thursday, October 15th, 6:00-8:00pm.  Hylton High School is located at 14051 Spriggs Rd, Woodbridge, 22193.

Approximately 100 colleges are expected to be represented at each college fair and the events are open to everyone free of charge. Juniors, seniors, and their parents are strongly encouraged to attend! Information regarding additional upcoming college fairs in northern Virginia will be posted on the "College and Military Visits" portion of the Counseling Center webpage as information becomes available.

BHS students Ryan Keane, Alyssa Estrellado, Tommy DeAngelus, and Laura Keane now anchor a news show about what is happening at Battlefield High School.  The show airs on closed-circuit television at BHS, but you can download an archived version here.
