Stonewall Jackson High School will host Super Saturday on January 28, 2012, 9:00am-12:00pm, in conjunction with the Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. All current and rising college students and their parents are encouraged to attend. College financial aid experts will be available on Super Saturday to offer free, one-on-one assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and will conduct financial aid workshops. A $100 book scholarship will be awarded to a student attending Super Saturday. Parents and students may visit this site for a list of documents they will need to bring to the event to complete the FAFSA. Mark your calendar and plan to attend this year's Advanced Placement (AP) Information Night on February 1st at 7:00 p.m.  The program will focus on how to select courses that match your student's interests and ability level, how to manage the time commitment involved in advanced courses, and what is involved in  individual AP courses from a curriculum standpoint.  For the most accurate and up-to-date information about the AP courses offered at Battlefield, it is imperative you and your student attend this program.  Course registration begins in February.

It is Battlefield HS vs. Patriot HS to see who can raise the most money in the 2012 Charity Challenge.  Donations can be made during lunch blocks the week of Jan. 31-Feb. 3.  Battlefield has selected charity:water, a non-profit organization to bring safe water projects for hospitals, schools, and communities in need of clean drinking water around the world.
ALL of the combined money raised between Battlefield HS and Patriot HS will go to the charity of the winning school’s choice, so please scrape up that loose change in every laundry corner, closet, and car to help bring water to the 1 billion people in our world who are without access to life’s most basic resource. We believe in change.

 
BJ's Wholesale Club is now open in Gainesville, VA and is offering ALL Battlefield High School families a special deal for new or renewing memberships.  Check out the details and note that BJ'S WILL DONATE $5 OF EACH MEMBERSHIP FEE TO BATTLEFIELD HIGH SCHOOL BANDS!  This special ends on Feb. 16 so act quickly to support our award-winning bands!

Applications are now available for the Prince William County School of Practical Nursing. Current juniors interested in this program for the 2012-2013 school year should visit the program's website for information regarding the application process. Current seniors may also apply to attend the program as an adult during the 2012-2013 school year. All applications are due to the School of Practical Nursing at Osbourn Park High School by March, 15, 2012.

The 2012 Battlefield High School Battle of the Bands will rock the house on Friday, March 23.   Event sponsors are currently looking for bands interested in vying for the title.  Application forms can be picked up in the BHS office or downloaded here.  The band selection announcement will be made on/about March 8. All bands must primarily consist of BHS students. This event supports the BHS PTO After Graduation Celebration and is co-sponsored by the BHS group, SADD, Students Against Destructive Behavior.   Click for more information.

Registration is now open for the 2012 Battlefield 5K Race.  The race will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 24th and all proceeds will  go to the BHS Athletic Training program.  As always, there will be a raffle at the finish for all entries.  Also this year, we will be adding a kids 1 mile fun run.  Sign up at www.signmeup.com/79744

Concussion training is mandatory before trying out for any sport.  The final training for the 2011-12 school year here at Battlefield will take place will take place on February 2, 2011 at 7:00 pm in the Auditorium.

Through a partnership announced by the Virginia Department of Education, Comcast is now providing low-cost ($9.95 per month) Internet access to families who qualify for free lunch under the National School Lunch Program.  Families who qualify may receive a notice about this program directly from PWCS School Food and Nutrition Services.  School administrators will also receive brochures about the program from the Office of Community and Business Engagement to be displaced in schools.
